What we collect

When you join our waitlist or create an account, we collect your email address, along with the page you signed up on, the website that referred you (for example, a search engine) and your approximate country. When you use SoundCatch, we process short audio samples solely to identify songs. We do not store audio recordings.

To protect the service from abuse, each recognition request is logged with your IP address, approximate country and network, browser type, and the result status (for example, “match” or “no match”). These logs do not include the audio or the song identified.

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used, such as pages visited and whether a song search succeeded. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and Google receives only anonymous, cookieless signals. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

We also use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use the site (for example where they click and scroll) so we can fix problems and improve it. Clarity records anonymised page interactions; text you type is masked, and we never see your microphone audio through it. Clarity sets cookies only if you accept analytics cookies. If you decline, it works without cookies and cannot recognise you across visits. Microsoft’s privacy statement applies to this data.

How we use your data

Your email is used to notify you about SoundCatch updates and launch information. Audio samples are sent to our recognition service, processed in real-time, and immediately discarded after identification.

Third-party services

We use trusted third-party service providers for email, music recognition, hosting and security, website analytics (as described above) and payments (Stripe, if you buy a song pack or Pro). These services receive only the minimum data needed to function. We do not sell, share, or trade your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Browser permissions

SoundCatch requires microphone access (or tab audio capture for the Chrome extension) to identify music. We do not access your browsing history, passwords, or any other personal data beyond what is needed for song recognition.

Data retention

Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Your song history is stored locally on your device. Request logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention, and per-IP usage counters expire within about a day. Google Analytics data is retained according to the settings of our Analytics account.

Your rights

You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing hello@soundcatch.app. We will remove your information within 30 days.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Significant changes will be communicated via email.
